We believe that every child deserves to have the same opportunities as everyone else. We can provide support in many different forms to disadvantaged children and young adults
Children and young adults living in a refuge due to experiencing or witnessing domestic violence
Children and young adults who’ve experienced or witnessed domestic violence are vulnerable and often need urgent care and support
Lenderhand help children and young adults mentally and emotionally who have experienced or witnessed abuse or domestic violence. Through Lenderhand’s schemes, we try to make their experience in a refuge that little bit nicer and provide the foundations for the next stages in their life
Almost one in three women aged 16-59 will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime and with your donations, we can provide the support they need to safely get their life back on track during these difficult times
Children and young adults with mental health difficulties
In 2017, one in eight children in the UK were diagnosed with a mental disorder. That’s at least 4 in every average-sized classroom
These children need support to show them that they don’t have to deal with their problems alone
Lenderhand want to help offer this much needed support and personal development so these people can build positive relationships with others.
Our aim is to promote and support the mental health and well-being of children and young adults living in Essex
Young carers
Young carers are children under 18 who look after family members. Their mum or dad, for example, might be ill, disabled, have a mental health condition or struggle with drugs and alcohol
It’s rare for young carers to have time for themselves, and they’re often under enormous emotional stress
Lenderhand want to help take some of that pressure away, no one of any age, but especially children and young adults should have to face such difficulties alone
Children and young adults with disabilities
Disabilities can be both educational and physical
Educational
Children and young adults with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) have difficulties learning, behaving and socialising. These people may need specialist therapy and support to allow them to cope with different challenges
Lenderhand can assist by providing support that can help with behavioural problems so children and young adults can learn to adapt in social situations
Physical
Disabled children and young adults may need therapy and treatment, they also may need disability aids and equipment to help them with daily tasks
Unfortunately, not all families can provide these necessities
That’s why we’re here to help. By providing disabled children and young adults with practical and emotional support, we make sure they have the same opportunities to improve their quality of life
Sick children and young adults
Many of the children and young adults that we support have serious illnesses like Cancer, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Crohn’s Disease
We can help by supporting the family with things they may need but cannot afford due to low or loss of income as well as offering recreational activities that will help them take their mind off their illness
